BeatStation

I bought this ($129) 2 weeks ago ... to help with my beatz, Rex, and Superior Drummer grooves.  Hopefully I can do away with beatscape now.

Any of you using this drum machine?  Any other recommendations for 64-bit Sonar ... for loopsters?
EDIT: http://audiodeluxe.com/search/apachesolr_search/beatstation has it for $99 ... ouch!  $30 down the drain for me.

I play my drums... It sucks? And it takes time? It "really sucks.." But I play my drums.

On my next tune? You should listen to the damn drums? Because it took "several weeks" to do the damn drums...

I know there are programs? There are apps? And there are good beats? I am well aware...

But my personal feelings? (IMO) The drums are SO personal?
And SO "integral?" I just have to do the drums... It's the balls of the music.
I know "everyone" uses loops? I'm aware...
I understand that "everyone" says it's already been done? I know...

But my music? It is "My music!"

My goal is for people to say, "damn! good drums! Good drummer!"
    And I'll say, :-) Yeaup! That's me!!
I'm currently working on a cover that has a "really difficult" drum part? I've been working on the drum part "for weeks?" I could use tracks by someone else? But I don't do it that way. I don't say the way I do it is better or worse? I'm just saying, this is how I do it.

Again, nothing against the way most people do it? Really! You guys rock! I just have "a thing..." about the drums? Because I'm a bass player? And I have relegion about the bass and drums? But I'm weird.

i couldnt agree more with you,but to spend weeks on a drum part?
i couldnt disagree with you more.

there are plenty of alternitives to tracking drums and not having to make a lifelong book onit and have them still sounding real, human and up in your face good.
im sure i have the same reaction as you when people hear my drum tracks they say "wow" who is playing drums.
i usualy avoid the question because i want as little attention as possible when it comes to my music,i make music for me,not others.

i write drum music first, then i start patterns but the patterns are huminized so there a little bit off in places, not a mistake, just 1/64 of a second off,to make it sound like a real drummer.
im not a drag and drop drummmer im also a bass player like you.i totaly understand the bass and drums groove we posses.
more and more these days kits are being minipulated by drum replacement technics as discrubed in this video

    Thanks Band_, Anubis, Chuck:

I seriously appreciate your pros and cons!!!!

I play many percussives live: tambs, cabassa, hats, and side-stick, etc.  but make loops and grooves out of them.

But textures rule for me.  Live drummers do little for me since their textures are so predictably garage-ish.  Once I enlisted Danny Danzi to do live drums for me ... and some thought they were sample-loops!!!!

Since Beatscape Rex's perfected the low end samples for producers, I have hated Toontrack's Superior Drummer and garage-drum performances, especially solo's.

"It truly sucks. Worst purchase I ever made"

-- hahahahahahaha!  That guitar is missing something!

    EDIT:

Chuck, that video is another reason I'm reticent to purchase X1: A rocket scientist is re-inventing mediocre drum kits with the dreaded audiosnap and hundreds of mysterious clicks.

    A grave warning 'bout beatstation:

While it has a lot of bells and whistles, the bells and whistles (fxs, verbs, inserts, etc.) can consume extreme CPU resources when used a bit (in Sonar 8.5.3 64-bit).

Some of these bells and whistles are a must: like reverb, delay, and inserts ... since the Sonar-host only allows 1 synth track, iirc.

Like melodyne, UAD, Waves fx'd clips, kontakt, EWQL, etc. ... you may want to freeze-bounce your midi's while using beatstation ... to conserve CPU ... and/or perfect the beatscape project outside of sonar on the desktop.
