the E key is killing me. (Solved-easy)

I keep hitting it. its right next to the R key and the W key. plus I got fat fingers. I wish I could un-bind it.

    Yeah, that one have caught me by surprise from time to time. However, I've found good use for it and really like that feature.

    But isn't it possible to "unbind" it by changing the key binding to "nothing", which is an option in the key binding dialogue?

    Same here.  First time I hit E I didn't know I hit it.  All the effects were gone and I didn't know how to get back to normal.  Luckily all you have to do is hit E again and everything is back to normal.  I may disable this hot key.  I really don't have a need for it.

    I've got big hands, so I use a split ergonomic keyboard. The keys are farther apart than a regular keyboard, so I mash fewer unnecessary buttons.

    I've gotten bitten by that... My export shortcut is Ctrl+E, so when I export a project, sometimes I either hit E by accident or my wireless keyboard drops the Ctrl part (happens a lot). So my export sounds like crap.

    You can't unbind it, but you can bind it to something else! I have it bound to "help", so when I press it I get the Getting Started dialog, and my effects stay enabled.

    Oh don't get me wrong it's great for throwing in a new track. Disable effects add new synth / record new audio, whatever. Enable effects and continue. But the E key? I get it "E" for effect but I'm even more grateful they didn't use the F key.

    You Know what?  I key bound E to the  "step sequencer"  and thought that solved the problem  'cause the step sequencer never would pop up.  so when i missed "R" no problem.  But I'm testing it now and it  will open the step sequencer under certain circumstances.  Have'nt figured out the who, how and why, but at least i don't accidentally turn off my effects.

    Hi Folks,

    You can bind any key to the "Do Nothing..." Keybinding in Preferences - Key Bindings - Global Bindings area. This disables any key or combo you want to disable. You can re-bind the Bypass all Audio FX to something like "SHIFT+E" if needed.

    yeah, I agree with the op.  Not the best place to put a bypass effects next to the record button.  I've been jacked a few times on this one.

    ok so just for clarification just unbinding E wont work. you have to select E (or any key) and assign it to "do nothing" ( or whatever function you choose. I think Shift + E = effects on/off is a fine idea. thanks again
