Hundreds of extra measures from Outer Space...

...or somewhere.  I was working on a 30 TV music bed this morning.  Very plain jane...just acoustic piano, bass, hihat and synth.  When I got ready to export it out to the desktop it took over 10 minutes to render!!  So I then exported it again using "real time export" and again over 10 minutes.  WTF??  So I went back and started investigating and found that there were quite literaly hundreds and hundreds of blank measures that got added somehow to the project.  Again, this was a 30 second piece of music and I was not doing ANY copying or pasting at all.  I start work from a template and I even reloaded it to make sure it had no extra measures...it didn't.  So...I deleted all the extra measures and everything was back to "normal".  Anybody else seen this in X1D??

This was on a midi track wasnt it? Ive had this happen a few days ago. I thought it was just my shaky hands accidently grabbing the end of a track in track view while working or something

Learning to zoom out in Track View before exporting so I dont find it after the fact.

Wow, had to edit post a few times because of shaky hands-Ughhh

It happens to me but like Digi said I always thought it was just me.  Now I'm not sure anymore (bug)?

I would just drag the timeline to select the region before I export.

    Cheers,

I couldn't tell if it was any particular track as they all stopped at the correct time.  It was just hundreds and hundreds of extra measures.  Weird.

The aliens may have liked the song so much they decided to add to it.

To bad you deleted the extra measures. There may have been a code in them saying as much.

I have had this before when I was working with projects sent to me. The work around I found was go to Properties>Audio Data> and uncheck  Always Import Broadcast Waves at their Timestamp. Worked for me hope it helps you!

I had this happen in 7 and 8.5.3 but not X1 (yet!!??!!).

Of course I could never reproduce the problem on demand.

I think Laney has given us the clue to solving the mystery.  I had loaded in a 30 voiceover track that I was more or less scoring to.  Even though it was only 30 seconds long it is quite possible that it came from a longer raw voiceover track.  But not near the length of the extra jillions of measures I had showing.  However...I bet it does have something to do with how Sonar interprets the time stamp.  I think it "cornfuses" the heck out of X1.  I thought that might be the case when it was happening but the weird thing was that even after I deleted that voiceover guide track...it still had the extra length.  Wonder if Noel could chime in with a possible explanation.  This may also account for why I frequently get audio sent to me by a video house to slug into a spot and when I import it it might be 10 minutes down the time line.  This happens all the time with situations like that.  I'm gonna try Laney's suggestion on the studio A DAW and see if it ends that problem.  I'll keep ya posted.

    Hi Ol Pal,
This happens to me a lot too. I've taken to using markers labeled "start" and "end" and exporting between those markers. Also, importing from other folks frequently ends up some absurd number of measures late for me as well....seems to be common with the folks that send me tracks out of Logic, but that's really anecdotal. I've always assumed it was a product of importing broadcast waves at their original time stamp but it's never bugged me enough to try and do anything about it. I'll be curious to see your results.
