Signal Routing Question

All default settings...
I set up 1 Audio track (with a 1k test tone at 0db).  I then routed it to a Master Stereo bus and then to the Master Speaker output.

When I run the test tone I can adjust the gain on the track to -6.2  (0db on the fader) = -3db  for instance in the meter on the track.  It hits the Stereo Bus @-3db but when it hits the Master Speaker the meter is buried.....

There is no gain knob on the Master Speaker output so should I be concerned that the gain is hitting the speaker output harder that the Stereo bus.  Is there and adjustment (other than the slider's on the Master speaker output)

Where am I picking this extra boost?

Thanks In Advance
meh

The extra gain's got to be happening in the interface. Does it have a volume control of its own? If you're using ASIO, there should be no additional gain between SONAR's output and the interface.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

There is a Monitor knob on the Tascam but this is basically an attenuator. The Main output, which should show as the Tascam in it's little window, always has matched the Mains buss level, there is no way I can think that this could be changed unless you are routing more than the Main buss somehow therefore doubling the input to it. I notice you are using a very strange OS configuration. Which driver version are you using 2.02?

The main outs have no gain., becauase there the main out. This is your sound card outs. Gain knobs have no place there

Thanks to all.....After a little sleep I have found that the additional gain was only equal to 0.1db and might be just an anomile in the way the Master Bus and Speaker Out meters are rendered.
