@hockeyjx,
Thank you...

@Matt,
Didn't check the unit number, BUT I did caution him.
ALWAYS POWER DOWN THE PHANTOM BEFORE INSERTING OR PULLING XLR's!
Same with the Firewire, NEVER "hot plug"; power the computer down first.

Tom

Looking at the screen shots.  The buffers are still set too low. Depending on the computer you may get some sound. Based on my experience 64 buffers @ 44.1k . Set it to 256 for now. I run 128 buffers @ 44 and I get RTL at 7 ms

Ah mackie control you can use that mode too. But that's why I asked for a screen shot of the 1884s control panel.

Still no sound out of the unit at all? Is any input muted? Is the  monitor sec
 configured to play  both computer and analog through? Press and hold the MON button. Below that there's two rows of 4 buttons. It will show the state of  what the unit is monitoring.

I harbor no ill will towards any man.

Yes, there is still more info we need. The FW-1884 Control Panel just mentioned must say 'Sync' or there will be no sound. I would also like to see, as mentioned, the Control Surface screen in SONAR.

Software: Cakewalk by Bandlab; Adobe Audition; Band-in-A-Box audiophile; Izotope Ozone; Encore; Melodyne; Win 10 Pro, 64-bit.

Hardware: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd; Roland Integra-7; TCE Finalizer; Presonus Central Station, Behringer X-Touch.  Home built i7 with 16 GB RAM, SSDs.

To All,
I spoke with Jason this morning, he had playback and control working.
We could not get any audio in on channel 1.
Both of us had things to do, so we left it there.
I asked him to insert 4 tracks, assign each to a stereo pair (1-2 3-4, etc),
set each for -90dB meters, then arm all four tracks for record and "dime" the trims.
We should see "level" (self noise) on all channels at about -65dB.
I get this:

If he has any blown pres it should show up right there.
He'll report back I'm sure.
Good advice all around, the "MON MIX" especially can be confusing, but we are not that far yet.
Thanks for all your help and concern.

Update:
    I didn't follow the instructions by Tom accurately but it appears to have been good each time I have taken a break and come back to things. After taking a break I come back to things with a clear head and accurately follow the instructions and seem to get a bit closer. I changed the inputs to the Stereo inputs (rather than what I had which was only the left inputs) and I am now getting some signal (in Sonar, but not on the board) from my mic plugged into port #1.

    I believe it has always said "In Sync". Is this what you are referring to?

Here is the Control Surface screen in Sonar:

I apologize to those following this thread. I have just been uploading screenshots to my dropbox and posting them here. I thought that the forum was making a local copy but it appears as though it is just referencing the ones on my dropbox. The screenshots from earlier on have been replaced with the ones I have currently and vise versa.  I won't re-write any more screenshots to try and make the story more clear.

Sorry for that.

I have to echo the sentiments of hockeyjx. Tom definitely is a good man. He spent a LOT of time with me over the weekend trying different things to get my FW-1884 up and running. Through the process he definitely dumped a lot of knowledge on me. I'm going to have to sift through the emails over the days to come to try and catch all that he was telling me. Definitely a fountain of knowledge there!

It turned out (and I think this may have been a problem from nearly the beginning) that the issue was that the computer inputs were all turned down to zero. Pressing the Mon Mix button and then the Computer button (in the Monitor bank of controls below it) and turning the levels for each channel up to full, then clicking the Computer button beside the Mon Mix button was the solution. I was happily able to use the master slider to adjust the volume and use the Monitor and Phones Level knobs to select where I wanted to route the output. I checked each of the pre-amps and all looks to be good.

I also learned about how images on this forum are statically linked rather than imported (probably so that hosts don't end up with GBs of images and such duplicated from the web on their servers). I apologize to anyone trying to follow this thread as I was overwriting the images I was storing on my drop-box.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to look and special thanks to those who offered up their advice. I learned a lot very quickly!

Sincerely,
Jason
