Masquerade - Piano and Orchestra

Hi,

I'm releasing a track for free download each week for 13 weeks from my library of music I've accumulated over the years.

I'm onto week 3 and this time it's one that I haven't previously released on any albums. I'm not planning to post on here every week but thought I would just for this track because it holds a special place in my heart (for reasons I won't go into here).

The recording itself leaves a lot to be desired and it comes from an album that I never released due to the problems I had with the orchestral samples (Garritan). I've since had the intention of going back to it and updating it with EWQL Symphonic Orchestra but recording new music always takes priority and so I've never done it.

Anyway - here it is: http://snd.sc/J9kGfr

This is a finished mix - never going to be touched again (if I re-record it then it will be a from a clean slate); I'm only posting it because I feel the music should be heard!

Hope you enjoy it.

Cheers,
Terry

You are just so incredibly talented.  This is just wonderful.  I love how you can hear the piano AND the orchestra all the time.  I know that's not easy to do.

Maybe by the time we retire, these music libraries will sound awesome without so much doggone manipulating.  :)  I guess we can dream anyway.

Stunning playing and composition once again!

    Beautiful work.

    Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has listened so far - I appreciate you taking the time. 13 minutes isn't just a "quick listen" in this busy busy world.

@Lynn - very kind words, thank you. Perhaps one day I'll have the time to turn this from a "composition" that I'm proud of into a "recording" I can be proud of and then it'll find a home.

@Janet - aw shucks ma'am you're making me blush. I think that part of the reason everything sounds a bit clearer than normal is just that it hasn't been compressed/limited/maximised or otherwise mucked about with - apart from that I think it was beginner's luck (this was recorded 4 years ago and was the first decent length tune I'd tried to use Garritan with).

    @Shad - thank you!

Just a quick mention that I won't be sharing every weekly free download as a forum post (keep the signal to noise ratio right!) so if you'd like to know which tracks I'm making available each week for the next 10 weeks I will be announcing them on my Facebook page and my Twitter feed.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

Beginner's luck?  It shouldn't be legal to have that much.  lol.  But I'm glad you're blessed with it.  :)

I'd love to hear all the tracks you're making available.  Not sure I'll be checking FB that often (and we're not even FB friends yet, are we?) and I don't do twitter.  If you think of it, I wouldn't mind an email to the links.  :)

Great work Terry, you have an outstanding ability on the piano and in composition.I didn't get the chance to listen to 100% of the track, but I caught the mood changes and the dynamics of most of it and I think you did a great job here.
