Problems with hdsp9652

When I look at the driver names of my hdsp9652 in the various menus in Sonar X1 I never see a numbered sequence like ADAT 1,2,3,4 etc up to 24. Instead I see ADAT1,3,5 up to 13 or 23. This makes routing channels very difficult. For example, when I select a track input - say track 2, I don't get that option of selecting ADAT track 2 as my input, I get instead ADAT track 3. RME says this is how Sonar displays their drivers. It sure doesn't make sense. This is a new install of Sonar and RME and I am new to both. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks, Keith Running Windows7 Z800 computer.

    Welcome to the forum.
in most cases, that means ADAT 1 is a stereo input consisting of inputs 1 and 2, ADAT 3 would be a stereo input of 3 and 4, etc.
In a track's input dropdown, does it let you select 2 independent of 1?

That's what I get also. I think that means that like said it is stereo and you are going to get both 1 and 2, 3 and 4, on up at the same time. I don't record in mono anyway, only in stereo. And perhaps the drivers whether any kind are that way also.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. I am slowly starting to wrap my head around this stuff. I was able to route all 24 channels but what a pain with the input names not corresponding to the track number. I find it hard to believe that this is normal. But at least I understand now why some tracks had stereo signals and some didn't. One other problem I have is getting a stereo output from Sonar to my console. Right now I am only getting the left channel.

    It's normal in SONAR.
So, can you select input 1 independently of input 2 in a track?
If so, you can use input 1 of 1/2 on the first track, input 2 of 1/2 on the second track and so on.
You can also rename the tracks if you want. Change Track 1 to Track 1/2 if it will help youi keep track ( ) of things better.
As for the output only sounding on the left, are both of the output meters (L/R) showing signal but you can't hear the right, or is just the left-side meter showing signal?
If the former, check your cables/connections. If the latter, make sure none of the tracks are panned all the way left.
If you recorded mono instruments on those tracks (mic, guitar) in a stereo track, you will only hear the left. Record those instruments on a mono track, either input odd or input even.
If you don't want to re-record those parts, Bounce the tracks to different tracks using the Split Mono preset. That will render the L/R signals to 2 different tracks, one being the sound and the other being the channel with no sound. Then delete the 'no-sound' track.

Hi Greg, I'm not at the DAW so I 'm not sure about the first question. But I can tell you that I am getting signal on both channels of the Master fader and yes, I recorded mono instruments on to stereo tracks. I dumped my Alesis HDR24 contents into the computer so I guess I need to do that again and make sure I am using mono tracks? I have one stereo source - keys.
This eve I will try the things you've mentioned and thanks for your help, once I get the routing figured out I should be off to the races (famous last words).
