Snap to scale, lyric view and piano edit quirk?

Sonar X1:

Frequently, when I'm editing the piano view using snap to scale and a lyric track, I eventually lose the ability to add notes.  If I save the file and reload it, it works for a while but eventually I lose the ability again. Once I lose the ability to add notes, it does not matter if I turn snap to scale off, I don't get the ability back.  I also lose the ability to add notes in all my tracks, not just the track with snap to scale.
If my track does not have lyrics, it doesn't happen.  Snap to scale and piano role work fine.

If I do not use snap to scale, it doesn't happen.  Lyrics and piano roll work fine together.

I never lose the ability to edit notes, just add new ones.   I can move, change duration, and delete all day long.

When I actually try to figure out the steps to recreate the quirk, I fail to create a repeatable case.  

I can't find a setting in Sonar X1 that lets me edit notes but not add notes.  However, if there is one, I can check it to see if its getting activated.
