Output bus assignment not working

i'm having trouble outputting a MIDI track to a specific bus. when i try to assign it in the track view, it won't change. it stays at output being my sound card. however, in the console view, it does allow me to assign it to this bus. so i have 2 outputs, 1 to the proper bus, 1 to the sound card directly. 
 
how do i change the track view output from the sound card to the bus?   i can do it with audio tracks, but not midi/instrument tracks.

    since midi isn't audio you can't output a midi track to a bus.
    the midi track is just to control instruments (and other gear with midi support)  

    if you've got the midi track controlling a soft synth, you can output the synths output to a bus though.

    in an instrument track you've got one midi tab and one audio tab in the inspector
    if you want to output the audio from this soft synth to a bus, select the audio tab and choose the desired output under the left fader (the one controlling the synths audio volume)

    yes, i was referring to an instrument track.  using the inspector worked.  i wonder why you can't set this in the track view.

    oh, but you can..

    if you've got the widget tab set to show all, you can select the output of the synth with the "o"-widget on the track. :)

    if that doesn't work, somthing's not right :/
