on how to get a couple of N. I. plugs working in SP 8.5.3 again.. (interesting fix)

I freed up some space on my OS HD by uninstalling SP7 and SP8 to make room for Sonar Pro X1 (only to discover I don't have adequate cpu to install X1 on my system). I noticed in Win XP 32's add/remove app within Control Panel N.I.'s Massive and FM8 were both 17.7 gig in size. Not sure what to make of this, I uninstalled both of them then re-installed them via Komplete 6 -then updated them both via NI Service pack to their current release versions: Massive 1.3 and FM8 1.2. Now Sonar Pro 8.5.3 will not load these vsts -error massage states they are not installed correctly. But. These 2 softsynths load just fine as they are in the same PC' within Ableton Live Lite 8.2.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

I would suggest trying running both in stand alone first, then open Sonar, go to the plugin manager, remove then from your current plugin lay-out, rescan and add them both back in, and see if you have any success.

Good luck, they are two quality softsynths and you need them back in action asap!!

Thanks Wess. Great suggestions! You are right. That was the fix. However I had to take it one step farther.

This remedy applies to Sonar Pro 8.5.3.

    Fix discovered by accident..

It turns out folders created in Cakewalk Plugin Manager can be problematic when you delete then reinstall plugs. The plugs: Reaktor5.6.2/FM8/Massive were originally located in a folder I created within Cakewalk Plugin Manager called Native Instruments. Upon reinstallation those were no longer accessable to Sonar (error message states plugin may not be installed correctly). You can get those reinstalled plugins to work by deleting any folder you may have created for them then re-entering them into the main plugin directory. Hope this helps someone down the road. Leonard
