No Audio???

Unfortunately, my work schedule has precluded me from really getting into the Sonar X1 with the V-Studio 700.  Just when I feel like I am making some headway, I get too busy to continue and lose what I had learned.

After an unintentional break, I cranked everything back on.  At first, I didn't have any sound and figured by driver's were, for some reason, not recognized.  I changed the USB connection and the Sonar X1 now shows them (Edit > preferences > Devices).

Now, I figured, "all is good" but I am still not getting any audio.  What I've done is have my Yamaha XS7 keyboard hooked to input's 1&2 of the VS-700R.  When something is played on the keyboard, the VU meters for 1&2 on the front of the VS-700R show a signal.  However, there is no indication on the X1.

I thought there should be a way to route the audio input on each audio track.  So, on the left of the screen when the "Track" tab is highlighted, there is a couple of in/out sections at the lower left corner of the screen.  The in/out section on the left has a drop down menu for an input.  That is where I thought was the way to route the input of an audio signal.  I click on the drop down menu and I get:

None
Selected Track Input Series . . .
Selected Track Inputs
VS-700 (12 in, 12 out) >

So, I select the bottom one (VS-700 (12 in, 12 out) >) and nothing happens.  I thought I should be getting the option of different tracks on the VS-700R or other options.

I've rebooted several times to no avail.

I have even loaded a pre-programmed project from an earlier version, "Room For Clarity" and I get no audio.  In fact, none of the VU meters bounce.

Doh!!, I hit the button for "stynth rack" on the 700 console and X1 crashed.  I restarted it and now I've got no audio drivers showing.

Very puzzled.  :-/

I might have found the problem -- hopefully.   At least, for "Room For Clarity", I got into Edit > Preferences > Driver Settings, I changed the "Playback Timing Master" from "None" to "VS-700 Main".  Now I am getting audio and the VU meters are bouncing appropriately.

    Now, to my project . . .

I still can't figure out how to get my audio from my keyboard routed through the VS-700R to X1.  I've tried a wide variety of settings on the audio input section of the audio tracks to no avail.  :-(

I guess, I figured a bit more out and feel kinda stupid because it was so obvious.  If I put the "input echo" on, then I get the audio running through.  Now, if I can get rid of the static, I'd be happier than a clam.

sometimes its as easy as reseting the midi engine in the control bars transport module.
but try this, next time this happens(hopefully not)
just simply hit play then stop, try your device again and see what you get.

many occations i sit and look at all the meters moving and no audio?
a simple restart of the midi engine cures it everytime.
sometimes when i hit play,i will hear the noise of the synth im using(just one quick burst)
if its session drummer,i hear a snare "pop"

then i know im good to go,
little tricks like this will help you be productive and not hold you back.
if i may suggest, keep a note pad and write things down,if your a guy who is trying to salvage as much playing time as possible but are having sessions spreadout all over the place, write things down, write down shortcuts, write down problem solving tips, write down
