Latency with Axe Fx Asio Driver

Hi, I am now trying Axe Fx II as an audio interface for X1 Producer Expanded,  using it's ASIO Driver for Windows 7 , 64 bit.

The latency is terrible, return trip about 70ms, even when the ASIO driver settings are at minimum latency.
Prior to this I was using the Eleven Rack with its ASIO driver and the latency was only 3.7ms.
Someone on another thread said they turned off Windows update?? Is that recommended?

Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone else using the Axe Fx in this way?

It sounds like you need to open up the USB Audio Class Driver Control Panel and change your buffer settings.  Mine defaulted to Safe for the USB streaming mode and 2048 for the ASIO buffer size, which had my latency astronomically high.  I changed the USB streaming mode to Low Latency and the buffer size to 128 and it is around 10.2 ms round trip.  It has a lower setting than that, but I haven't tried it.

I'm not sure how far you can get in a real project as I don't use the Axe-FX II for my interface usually, just did a little checking to see if I could figure out why your latency is so high.  I would think you'd be OK at least going as low as 128 and might even be able to get away with 64.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

Hi Genghis,

You are a champion. Indeed I think that is the problem as my buffer size was much higher, and I didn't realize it should be that low.
I will try it out tonight and let you know.

Thanks again

Genghis,

Yes , as suspected , it worked beautifully. Just lowered the buffer size.
Thanks once again for your help

Cool! Glad I could help.  Thanks for confirming that was the issue.
