Changing from 16 to 24 bit recording

I am now starting to get a better understanding of bit depth and sample rate. Up to now i have been recording at 16/44100 with rendering at 32 bit as these are the default settings. I now know i should be recording at 24 bit and will set future projects at this.

What i want to know is whether i can/should change to 24 bit mid-project. I am about to record lead vocals on a number of projects replacing the guide vocals done at an early stage. Will i benefit from recording these in 24 bit or will it give me compatibility problems with the rest of the clips in the project? I have found that levels on vocals tend to be much lower so I am guessing the greater dynamic range offered by 24 bit would be an advantage.

No problem using 24 bit and mixing up bit rates.

Record at 24 bits and your sound will love you.

I'm with @, making the jump mid project is not a problem.
    Its a no-brainer!

    Thanks AT.
What about sample rate. I know you cant change this half way through, but should i be using 48000 in future. Using 44100 gives me problems switching with other asio players i use which only use 48000 (Fidelify) so would be more convenient to use that. 44100 seems to be just a throw-back to the CD rate which is now becoming redundant.
