PRV Problem
Hi everyone. I'm trying to do something I've done hundreds of times, but it's not working for me. In the PRV, select a bunch of notes with different velocities. The Event Inspector rightly shows Velocity as +0 I then select the velocity I want them all to be, but it remains stubbornly at +0 The clip isn't locked. Has anyone seen this before, or better still, does anyone know what's causing this? Thanks in advance Jonesey

Can you move just 1 by itself? You dont have any that are maxed out or way above the 0 before trying to move them all at once?

Changing them one at a time works ok - but is tedious if you have to change more than a handful. No existing velocities are > 100

Reason I ask is cause if you were changing a selection of more than one and one was much higher than the others, it might hold them where the one peaks out at 127. Not sure though. Thats kinda why I like to lasso them in PRV, try grabbing the ones in the 0 to 30 ranges and just those should rise as needed.

very strange behavior.. can you still change the velocities to the same value wih process -> scale velocity? if you can, i guess the problem is piano roll-related otherwise i'm guessing it's inspector-related.. trying to perform the same task with a different approach can, if nothing else, reduce the possible sources of a problem..

Yes Loptec, there are several ways to accomplish this, it's just so easy to grab hold of the things and adjust them instantly via the Event Inspector. One thing I've noticed - if I lasso a bunch of notes and the FIRST one selected is my destination velocity, the behaviour is as described above. If the first one is going to have it's velocity adjusted then it behaves as you would expect. Excluding the first note *if* it's at the correct velocity seems to get over this.

yeah. i agree. the inspector's a great thing. ...when it's working. i just tried to do it as you describe and the exact same thing happened to me. when selecting several notes and typing in the velocity in the inspector all notes change to this velocity.. except when typing in the value of the first notes velocity. then nothing happens. =/ Cakewalk Problem Report Form here we come..

I've run into that if some notes are already at the velocity I want. I just type in another velocity in the Event Inspector, hit Enter, then with the notes still selected, type in the velocity I really want and hit Enter again.

That's been my experience also. I set them all to 0 or 127 1st then enter the value I want... it pays to make sure they are all reeely selected too. Still its a pretty cool tool.
