Just a few days ago I enjoyed Head Hunters.
Lot of good memories of playing these with some
    good musician friends.
My wife doesn't care for jazz unless I'm playing...concert
    wouldn't be good for us.

    Herbie rocks.

I've never been to Jazz fest and I sort of envy those who can put up with the crowds to see the mighty fine music that I know goes on there.

There's something about drunken people crowding New Orleans' sidewalks and acting like drunken people that just doesn't do it for me.

    best regards,
    mike

meh..that is like up here. This year there is Hawk Rocks The Park, Blues Fest, Sun Fest, Home County Folk Festival and something just about every weekend through the summer here...and the drunks just drunk along.

I missed a lot of that the last few years because of my work being on-call over the weekends but since I now am office material there are those opportunities popping up ...

Think I'll indulge myself in a few of those festivals here...

    From Jan's link:

""New Orleans music is passed on through its traditions, with younger players learning from older ones," Jaffe said. "That remains central to our mission and even today, 50 years later, it's a continuing goal to cast a spotlight on the old and young that's very much alive.""

    Good stuff.
