On the DAW, you can record two tracks at one time, each with a different instrument or voice.
If using a mixer, that mixer must be capable of outputting each track distinct from the next. OK..looking at the hardware list in your signature, it's a USB mixer.
So you should be able to assign the outputs on the A&H independently to two different inputs in the software. That's all that you should need to do. This would be done in the track setup.
This from the A&H page:
Send options:
1) Main Mix Left + Right (Post-fade)
2) Main Mix Left + Right (Pre-Fade)
3) Auxes 1-2
4) Auxes 3-4
Return options:
1) To Stereo 3 channel
All you need to do is assign the 2 different mono tracks to send option 1&2 and then select those options respectively, in the track input field.
Drag the bottom of the track in console view down to make the track window larger. (I don't have 8.5 so it might be a bit different) Each track inspector area will have the input and output assignments for that track. The A&H outputs should be visible there. Select the output on the A&H for the input to the track.
You probably don't need to send the A&H to a master, but to a track to start with. Then........ once you get the inputs set up properly for both tracks, the track output is to the master by default, unless you add or insert a sub-master for some reason, such as treating a group of tracks that are similar (back ground vocal tracks) with the same FX processing.
As a side note of encouragement: I have a Focusrite Saffire that has a software mixing panel which controls what goes where and at what levels. It took me quite some time to get all that stuff figured out to even get sound in one end and out the other. I was pulling my hair out trying to get it figured out when.....waaaaa laaaaa, I got it figured out.
