Re-Installation of Sonar X1d

A question for those who have either had to re-install Sonar either planned or un-planned...

I 'plan' to buy a new workstation soon as with all the VSTs on my system Sonar drops out with just about a dozen instruments (plus fx)... my CPU is maxing out so time to move up a notch...

I downloaded the Sonar X1 in full when I 'upgraded' . Ive been told that this is a 'full' version of Sonar X1 so I will not need to load 8.5 again. If so fine, but do I need to load each patch ie X1a, X1b, X1c, X1d separately plus then load my Expanded version or is there now a 'full' version of Sonar X1d without having to load every patch individually..

Thanks

Each new versions of SONAR (as in SONAR 6, 7, 8, 8.5, X1) is a seperate installation that is not dependent on any previous version being installed.

Upgrade is a purchase/discount concept not an installation issue.

SONAR does not check for an earlier version. There was however one time when upgrading from SONAR 8 to 8.5 using the download version that you had to have the previous version installed as it used some of the existing content but not for checking a valid right to upgrade.

Different release versions of SONAR can coexist quite happily. At one time I had SONAR 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 all installed simultaneously.

As Bristol Jonesey says above is the correct procedure. BUT you wiil need to explicitly follow the instructions for updating SONAR X1C to X1D. there is a comprehensive guide available in the download area.

I clean installed X1 when I got a new PC then went through the updates one by one.  I did do a partial install of 8.5 but only because I wanted to get the Cakewalk tuner and one or two older Cakewalk FX which I needed as they were in older projects, but the clean install of X1 was OK.

SONAR Platinum rolling updates:  Intel i7 2600k on Gigabyte P67A UD 7: 16GB RAM:  W7 x64 Home Premium.

Thanks all for the responses... I think you have confirmed what I need to do... even though I was hoping for a full install with X1d but thats fine.
