Not in the studio at the moment so I can't verify, but I think if you do the following you should be good: 1. Use the keyboard shortcut "P" to open Preferences 2. Go to the Record section 3. Verify Recording Mode is set to Sound on Sound 4. Click OK You can now arm your midi track for recording and do as many passes as you like.

Hi groupgezign, you have the options to choose to record sound on sound(Blend) and overwrite(Replace). Go to > Edit>Preferences> Project>Record Sound on Sound would be your choice I believe. It still creates a new layer inside the track you are overdubbing. (make shure you have Show Layers selected in the trackheader to see the different layers. If you want them to be one layer just select all clips and bounce them to one clip. In the PRV it will show all the notes as one take. Hope that answers your question. Good luck! : ) Daniel

You can lasso them or hold down Ctrl and click them. Then, when they're all highlighted, right-click one of them and choose Bounce to Clips.

Route all your Midi input to the same channel. Sometimes that's not possible depending on your setup-controllers etc. I don't know why you wouldn't create at least 16 channels and route different parts to different channels-tracks anyway. ??? Much more editable that way. You need to list what you're recording, 1 instrument?, 2 instruments? What?

Insrumenta ? Does that mean 1 insrument? Transmute a whole layer of with bounce to clips? Please clarify that. Sonar doesn't transmute. Are you using layer recording and want to combine your layers ?

Nihat I think you mean note not layer. Layer in X1 means that the track has multiple takes. Its the same idea as multiple tracks except its on a single track. Its for loop recording or punch in and out recording. Its for recording over and over on the same track with out loosing what you already have on that track. You don't need to delete the wrong notes and re-record. You can go in the Piano Roll View and edit the note and place in the right place and make it the right length too. This is a basic ability of MIDI.

Just open the PRV of the disired track in the multidock , so you can see the notes you've already recorded plus the new notes as they appaer while you overdub. (and then edit, if needed)) Maybe that gives you a clearer picture of the process. regards, Dan
