How to create a tempo map around an existing midi performance

I've always used the metronome to record any compositions and then ti quantize them so they fit neatly in the bar.

But I want to try something different.... I want to record my midi without a metronome and fit the tempo map around my performance.

I've seen ffb's create a tempo map using audio snap which I will try to experiment with... but how do you guys approach it?

Edit: Sorry, that's probably the same info that's in ffb's video.

I just did the FBB video approach with a song and it worked great. Simple and effective.  The whole thing took less than 15 minutes, and that with a song that had some pretty big tempo shifts (not the good kind).

As you've probably seen there's a couple of videos on my youtube page with two different methods.

There's the first method using "Set beat at Now" command and the easier method although I only came up with the first one because originally I couldn't get the second one to work and assumed incorrectly it was an audiosnap bug.

It was in fact "pilot error" and down to misunderstanding of how the "Edit clip map" function worked.

    Still X1's fault of course.........
