Audio and Midi out of sync. Advice needed!

Hi,
I know there are a few questions regarding this but nothing seems to answer my particular question.

I have a couple of audio loops and a number of softsynths running off midi. If I set loop points half way through the song that measure say 2 bars so that I can tweak one of the synths notes in prv, My Z3ta main riff will go out of sync when the bar loops. So basically,  it plays the 2 bar loop fine first time through, when it goes through it a second time, the Z3ta track will be out of sync slightly, then when it loops again it goes out of sync even further. I have now noticed this happening with NI Massive. It seems to be an issue with looping and the audio engine. I do have about 10 synths playing and about 10 audio tracks but my computer should be high enough spec I think as the cpu meter is still measuring fairly low (2600k, 16gb ram.).

Is this a latency thing, or is it a midi problem? I have tried adjusting the latency with the slider but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Thanks

Are you using a factory sound card... the one built into the computer?

Sync and latency issues are usually a result of sound card issues.

You can try adjusting the buffers and the latency sliders and sometimes that will give you enough to minimize the problems for smaller projects.

Thanks for your response. I'm actually using a Behringer uca-202, which is not ideal I know but apparently it does have pretty good ASIO drivers. I have tried the latency slider but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

On a side note, I have noticed that the project seems to be running at 48 khz in the display bar at the top, but my projects are 44.1 khz in the template that I have saved for each new project. i wonder if something is conflicting. However I don't know to adjust the sample rate mid way through a project, I can't find an option!)

    Thanks

pretty good ASIO drivers. I have tried the latency slider but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

That slider is for WDM driver mode. you don't use the WDM slider for adjusting your ASIO buffers. you click on the ASIO tab to adjust your ASIO buffers.

Also, your sample rate must match. If they don't, then you run into problems like the ones your having. you will need to convert each and every audio file to the projects sample rate and make sure both sample rate smash 100%

Or it could be this same issue seems loops can drift. The solution given is to use groove clips and it seems to keep them on the clock. http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2564955

+1. Convert your loops into Groove Clips (like Acid Loops) and they will be rock solid.

Make sure the clip is the exact length you want it, i.e., 1 bar, or 2 beats. Right click the clip and select Groove Clip Looping and the clip corners will become rounded. Then you can drag the clip out as many measures as you like.

CJay, I just noticed before you posted that that I'm not using the ASIO drivers! I'm new to X1 and this is a new audio interface so that's my excuse! I changed it over and I'm not noticing a massive difference however and so I'm starting to think that it is a sample rate issue or something similar.

I know what you guys are saying about grooveclips but the problem isn't really audio related, it's more midi. 2 of my soft synth tracks just float out of sync. One seems rock solid with the audio loops and the Z3ta track just drifts out of time. I think I'm going to ditch that project anyway so I'll start fresh with a properly set up template and hopefully the problem will disappear!

    Cheers

If its a new interface, did you install the latest drivers and have you set up the new interface correctly, so it performs correctly in sonar. Audio drifts are a sing of bad audio sound card drivers or/and its settings
