Question from a 64 bit newbie

Will the 32bit plugins that came with Sonar X1 work in my 64 bit enviroment? I have had a lockup and errors trying guitar rig 4 (yes I have the latest updates for guitar rig 4) so I'm a bit shy to try the 32 bit plugins.  Guitar rig isn't a huge loss in my opinion. I was going through the presets when the errors happened and I had yet to hear anything I liked about it. My line 6 HD500, while not perfect, sounds much better than guitar rig. Thanks!

Most will work through bit bridge.

Ok thanks. I'm talking about just the plugins that came with Sonar...nothing third party. I assume bit bridge also comes with Sonar X1d producer expanded and there is nothing I need to do out of the ordinary?

Some are 32 bit DX plugins and those wont work all the others are either full 64 bits or can be bitbridged. The ones that wont work are ones you wont miss.

If you have to have them and they are DX 32 bit plugins you can get a DX to VST wrapper and use them in Bitbridge.  I did with FX 3 and it works just fine.

all the 32 bit plug ins that come with sonar x1 will work in a 64 bit enviorment.
some of the vstinstruments though like pentigon you need to run as administrator.
jbridge will do this for you, even with the 32 bit third party plug ns as well.
    no need to fear anything.

i used to run a 32 bit version of sonar in a 64 bit win 7
    but i smartened up.

some of the older plug ins need a wrapper but nothing on x1 does.

    ps-ever tried guitar rig 4?
    the sounds are amazing,
if your having issues updating it,dont worry alot of people have as well.
try running the standalone as administrator to get your presets.

That simply is not true. X1 also comes with 32 bit DX plugins. A few do not have 64 bit versions. They are the DSP-FX plugins in particular. Those will not work without a wrapper.

sorry,i think you mis interpeted the question he asked.

"Will the 32bit plugins that came with Sonar X1 work in my 64 bit enviroment?

he didnt ask if the dsp-fx that come with the 32 bit version of sonar, work on sonar in a 64 bit enviorment.

or maybe we both mis-enterpeted this question and its better off left alone?

    yay?

All plugins the come with producer come with both 32 and 64 bit versions. Why because the plugins for me at least are from the version 8 DVDs of Sonar because that is the last version I didn't down load. Now it is true that many come with X1 and only X1 but if one is moving from a 32 bit Sonar version than those listed plugins will no longer work in the 64 bit version. The OP wouldn't ask if this was not the case for him. But as I stated there is a solution with using a wrapper if those are ones that the OP must have.
