Output to speakers is very weak

I have just installed the software and can record a vocal but when it comes to playing it back you can not really even hear it. All levels are maxed out but output to speakers is very weak. Am I missing something?

    Welcome to the forum.
Is this audio or MIDI or a combination? Are you using software synthesizers?
What is the level of the audio meters in SONAR during playback?
What other levels are you referring to as being maxed out?
Are you using the computer sound card or an audio interface?

This is just doing Voice from a Samson USB Mic. Not sure what the software Synth are. Levels are high in both the playback and recording. computer Sound Card.

You might want to start out by reading this post:

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1618556

There are volume controls in windows (Control Panel - sound) one for record and one for playback

then there is a record volume level in Sonar

then there is the output level from the recorded track to an output bus

then there is an output level from the output bus to the Windows device driver

then there is a volume control in windows

    Are you checking them all?

On the track that you recorded the vocals into, can you see a waveform display that shows the recorded voice

Well, if the levels are all the way up and still not loud enough, you might consider connecting the sound card to an external amplifier connected to speakers (like a stereo receiver) and listen through that. You'll be able to control the loudness better.
Or, are you using powered speakers connected to the computer and are the levels low on them?
