Sonar 8, Vienna Pro and MIR Pro

I currently use Sonar 8 and have recently bought Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 and MIR Pro and I am having difficulty learning to use it. Does anyone here use the same setup? I would like to talk to users willing to help me out. Thank you, Mike Coyle

I'd post this down in the Techniques forum Mike, you'll certainly get more hits.

I've got that setup. Have any specific questions? It took me a while to wrap my head around how it works... Also, the Vienna forums are very helpful.

I've just finished setting up a template for EWQLSO Platinum Plus and that took a fair bit of head scratching!

Thank you Bristol and Steve. I did re-post this question in the techniques section per Bristol's suggestion. However, it sounds like Steve may know what I need. I have found the Vienna forums to be completely unhelpful because no one seems to know Sonar so they are using terminology and comparisons that make as little sense to me as the rather lame VE Pro manual did! :-) Steve, my question is quite broad. How do you get instances of VE Pro into Sonar? I understand you must first open VE Pro Server, then that is somehow supposed to connect with Sonar, but the only suggestions I got were this: "The concept is simple: Look at VE Pro as multi-timbrel virtual instrument (like Omnisphere, for example, or Kontakt). You will have to open _one_ instance of VE Pro and send data from _many_ MIDI-tracks into it. I don know how Sonar handles it, but the most comfortable way to achieve this is to have a virtual "Instrument Rack" inside the DAW, not an Instrument-Track with just on dedicated MIDI track assigned to it." Well, I have no experience with Omnisphere or Kontakt, so that was no help. And also I do not know what he means by "virtual instrument rack." I am used to simply assigning a VST instrument into the FX bin of an audio track in Sonar and then in a corresponding midi track assigning the output to that instrument. All effects I have used to this point have also been VSTs which I simply put in a bus and send. VE Pro has me totally mystified. Honestly, I do not even know what it does or why it is necessary for MIR. I really only wanted MIR because the reverb effects are mind-blowing! Can you help me out? Please feel free to private message me and I'll send you my email address. Thanks, Mike Coyle
