What Sonar really needs!!!!

Its no more game changes!!!!

In the last 10+ years, I compare, Sony Vegas,Forge,Acid are new version of themselves improved, Adobe Premiere, Pro Tools,FL Studio,Reason, Cubase, Nuendo I think that is the same case , even Cool Edit that goes from Syntrilium to Adobe had GUI/Menus changes, but its basically the same plus some additions like VST, video, whatever.

I just feel that from Pro Audio to Sonar X1 there has been too much changes in shortcuts, menus, tools, Console GUI,views, command locations, piano roll/tracks elements , features disappearance, etc ect etc

I get lost from time to time and I have to learn the new thing and that make me uncomfortable and slow, what can I say I hate that!

    Thanks for sharing.

FWIW, in my opinion, Sonar has only gone through one really radical, major change, and that was from 8.5 to X1

If you think Reason 5 to Reason 6 was a small change then I'd hate to think of a big one.

    Grum.

For me, SONAR needs "The Talent" button.

Couldn't agree more, also I was reading the "X1 The Fine Print" today by Noel Borthwick, and it does make one realise, how much went in to make X1,what it is.

I also watched a Cubase 6 tutorial today [first time, just to see],and it made X1 seem,a lot  easier to digest, and work with,by comparison-on the surface at least.

I read that some time ago and its one big reason I am so pro X1. I am not saying I got the idea of X1 instantly when it firs came out but I did begin to understand it fairly soon.  With that text from Noel it only reinforced my opinion about it.

To me X1 is a new beginning for CW. It will continue to evolve and correct those issues that users have been so vocal about.  I see it being a much better version over all than past Sonar's could have ever become. It feels to me that it has "room" to expand to incorporate new functionality and be stronger for more types of users.

Cubase is still Cubase. I DLed the trial version of  Cubase 6.5 (I still have my dongle for SX 3) and though I have a lot of respect for it, it is still Cubase in all its glory. Meaning its just as confounding as it ever was. Powerful it is but unlike X1 its power is nicely hidden from the user. Things that are simple to do in Sonar require extra effort in it. Simply sizing a project is a pain to do. In X1 its automatic. To load a MIDI file it has to be imported into an existing project. X1 supports MIDI files natively.

Its a great DAW but it is also harder to use than it needs to be.

    Best
