Moving Between Different Audio Interfaces

Not sure if this is the right forum, but this problem hits Sonar the hardest...

At home I use a Saffire Pro 14 FireWire interface, and the Focusrite Mix Control ASIO driver for it. Works great. At church, I use a Behringer USB interface with ASIO4ALL. The works great, too, provided I uninstall Mix Control. The two sets of drivers do not coexist well, especially with Producer. Having ASIO4ALL on the computer while running the Saffire makes all kinds of strangeness happen. And vice versa to a somewhat lesser extent.

Does anybody know of a way to set my system up to easily switch back and forth between the two without having to do the whole uninstall/install dance with the drivers?

nope.  I've seen this happen many times helping people on the forums.

ASIO4ALL is "aggressive" when it comes to control of the system and is very incompatible with a lot of ASIO native drivers.

a couple of workaround solutions I can think of to suggest:

    1) why not bring the saffire to church with you?  if you're using the behringer USB then you're only recording the MAIN OUTS of the mixer (1 stereo channel) anyway - so bring the saffire, plug the main outs into the saffire instead of using the behringer usb.  problem solved.

    2) you could set up a dual boot system.  one with asio4all and the other with saffire asio drivers.  this solution is clunky, IMO, but it would work if you have to use the behringer USB instead of the saffire at church.

I thought about bringing the Saffire to church, but I am basically lazy and don't want to have to discombobulate my studio setup twice a week :)

A dual boot solution might work out..... thanks :)

I just thought of another solution!

behringer used to recommend ASIO4ALL for their 2 channel USB devices (like the UCA-200 & UCA-202) but recently they had some native ASIO drivers developed FOR the UCA series soundcards.

go to the behringer website and download the drivers - that will likely solve your problem the most efficient way!

+ 1 to what Beagle said, You really need to use proper ASIO drivers and not asio4all.
I was just messing around with asio4all on my netbook just to see if it would be better than having MME. It was worse. And when I tried to use my usb interface it would not latch on to the ASIO drivers automaticly like it used to. So asio4all is only for when there is no other options.
And I used to record projects on my laptop and transfer them to my desktop DAW which has a different interface and Sonar Played just fine. Only had to re assign inputs when re-recording parts. If channel 1 was used, I didn't even have to change this.

I even tried swapping interfaces mid session without having to re boot Sonar. It just asks you if you want to use the new device and bingo. But this is only if all is ASIO drivers.

You know, I was thinking this very same thing after you made that first post about ASIO4ALL being agressive about grabbing and not letting go. Think I'll try the Berhinger drives again.
