Not sure where to post this question, but this group has the most followeres, so....

Sorry if this is totally the wrong place to post this, but I could not find an appropriate topic: No matter how I format my text on Cakewalk Forums (fora for you formalists out there), it always just pots as a huge block of text. No hard breaks, paragraph spacing, etc. I am using Windows 7-64 and Firefox. Is there some setting I need to change in either of those two things or in my forum profile to get nicer looking text? My longer posts are really tedious to read because they're just a mass of text! Also, preview does not work for me - I think this is probably a Firefox issue, but not sure what. (as a good example, you'll see my "Thanks, Mike" come up on the same line as the last line of text on this post instead of being spaced with hard returns.) Thanks, Mike

Cakewalks Forum Software is so outdated it is no longer compatible with Firefox. I find it very inconvenient to have to switch to IE just to post here, most times I don't bother if my answer is short.

Roll back to FF V5 or earlier (3.6 is still supported) V6 and later don't work well with the forum software.

IE tab works in later versions of FF but there is still a few glitches with that as well. I use FF5 with no problems.

But why should we have to run outdated browsers ?? For the amount of free support cakewalk gets here they should spend a few dollars and upgrade the software,I should not be us having to back step 2 years.  And unless you had saved the older install of firefox you cannot roll back.
Google Chrome works too and has spell checker for me and CJ.

I use IE (8 at work, 9 at home) for every thing except the odd website that is not IE combatable, then I use Firefox. Some times I think I am the only person on the planet that likes IE.

While agreeing that Cakewalk may need to upgrade their software, I also think that browsers should retain backward compatibility. There are millions of websites that will not want to up grade everyime there an update to a browser.

The spell checker and formatting tools are all at the top of the "Quick Reply" in IE, but not in Firefox.

but think of the convience it is to have your issue sloved within minutes sometimes.

If that's in response to me, I couldn't agree more, we shouldn't have to but I just answered the OPs question about how to keep post formatting. Looks like the X1 forum isn't the only place I can't answer a question without someone thinking I'm defender of the faith.

FYI - All versions of FF from 0.8 to V13 can be found HERE

EDIT: V13?!? Are they releasing a major version per month or something now?

Firefox and Reaper compete for most updates in a calendar year.

You can use - br - inside the less than and more than signs to drop a line. Like I have.......

    .....here.

You can't use this method in quick reply though. Tedious - I don't think so. It's good to jump through hoops to post a few lines. The more troublesome the better, I say.

I use Google Chrome to post here, Firefox for everything else.

    Ditto.

Chrome has a nice feature where you can specify pages to automatically open whenever you invoke Chrome. I put in the CW forums that I visit most often, so they all open up when I start Chrome. Firefox remains my default browser.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks FBB. I'm not 100% Firefox fan as I find it's habit of automatically updating is weirdness. My daughter just totally lost her on line backing download set up due to a firefox update. So thanks a million for the link to older versions. I could not figure out how to roll back. I was happy with FF 3. You used to be able to kill flash player running automatically.I'm a control freak and do not like my computer running on it's own mind.

You can change how Firefox updates in its options. When an update is available, Firefox informs me and asks if I want to update now, later, or never. You can also choose to have Firefox not check for updates.

Do you lose much if you use a much older version (of FF) or does everything still play well?

Everything is good here and I have plenty of add ons. I'm sure some probably don't play well but I'd be surprised if add-on developers can keep up with the update pace of FF. That is a rather ludicrous rate.

I have not updated Firefox since version 3.6.28 and everything seems to work ok.

I keep setting it to NOT update and it still seems to find a way. I just looked right now and it is set to warn me first but just last week it updated to 12 all by it's self. ?? I noticed my history of updates shows 10 from Aug 2011, Starting at FF6. I think it was 6 I liked the best so I'm going to try that when I have a minute. Features I like are the Download window , Tabs and the spell check.
