Recording live output of VI

I've never actually had cause to do this before - I think it's impossible, but someone may know a clever way.  What I need to do is record the output of a VI DIRECTLY, while playing live.  I can't do what I normally do - just record the midi then freeze or bounce - because in this particular case (Skanner XT in Reaktor Player) there is no way of recording the Preset Morpher, it only responds to live commands.  Hence the need to record while performing.

When an audio input is set to a VI, for some odd reason there's no ability to record the audio.  Likewise, you can't record a bus output either.  Any other ideas?

Route the output of the VI to a spare pair of main Outs (Soundcard)
Then reroute these back into Sonar, allocate to a stereo track and record.

Make sure you kill input echo to avoid feedback

Yes, that should work (might be a bit of latency I guess?)  Thanks.

It's related to this: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1846783 - (see post #9) a sort of clumsy way to record vsti's from incoming midi.
