export problem

I made a song in garageband on the ipad and its in mpeg 4 or something.I have tried everything and cannot import it into sonar.     

HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC Intel(r)core i7 2820qm cpu @ 2.30ghz,8GB of RAM,Radeon HD 6490m,720 GB harddrive

    You need to purchase a license or find free software for MP3's encoder
     
    If you buy the one that Sonar sells it may not work for all MP3s at least it don't for me.
