Crash when trying to render

Hi folks,

actually I don´t use Sonar that much anymore but was after I got the expanded version for low money I was nosy to play around with it..

So I bounced some tracks from a productions from another DAW into it and played around with the ProChannel to see how good it is.

Then when finished mixing, I press render and BAM, Sonar turns white, crash!
Ok I thought turn turn off fast render and try again, so it started bouncing till the the end and crashed then!! WTF is that??

I had this issue back with 8.5 and those things made me turn my back on Sonar, and now I see old bugs like these again..
Does anyone have the same problem and if, what´s the solution?
I reported the crashlog to cakewalk 10 min . ago, will see waht they answer,

all the best,

Did you have autosave on? If yes, can you open and resave one of those project files?
If no, can you import a wav file and save it as a new project? What fx do you have loaded
on these tracks? If SONAR goes into the pale white wait state, it most likely has a conflict
with an instrument or effect you have loaded. Your UAD plugs should be fine, but just loading
audio, mixing, and bouncing should work flawlessly on your machine.

    Hey Peregrine,

thanks for your reply. I used some Waves Plugs as well and also Soundtoys Decapitator, that is usually good coded stuff as far as I remember, it never causes me problems in other Daws..

thank god I saved before rendering, so nothing is lost..

I use Waves plugs with no problems. You might want to do the update to Waves v9 to get the 64 bit versions, but these shouldn't be causing any issues. Can't speak for Soundtoys though. Someone else may have more info. Are you using Cubase 6.0.x or 6.5.x? When you close a Cubase project, are you getting a normal program exit? Any blue screens on shut down maybe?

Also, just to be sure, are you working with imported audio files or midi files and synths?

I´m afraid to say and really don´t want to troll, but Cubase 6.5 works with absolutely no problems don´t matter which plug ins you use or whatever you do..

I updated to V9 actually, so that can´t be the problem.. Maybe Soundtoys then, but that would be really odd, since these plugs are great..

I think that was always and still is sonar´s biggest problem, the compability with 3rd party plug in´s...

Oh second question: Imported wave files from Cubase..

So - you open a blank project in SONAR, import a few .wav files, add audio effects, mix, and then do a real time bounce to a new track, and it goes into wait state. Is that about it?

This is only done about a million times a day, so if someone comes in here and asks the right question, the fix should be a piece of cake.

Yep, it´s the Soundtoys Plug in, I threw that out and it bounced correctly, still not in fast mode but still it did it..

    As I said, compability issue..

    Thanks for taking time,
    cheers
