audio driver help

Bought the VRM box a couple of weeks ago, and nothing but troubles with it. Until today.. I could get it to work in the windows environment.. windows media player.. on the web... but never in Sonar 8.5.3. In the audio box, my regular sound card is listed, and VRM, but the VRM is greyed out. Focusrite asked me to uninstall my regular audio card, reinstall the vrm and and see if that helps. After doing that.. sonar would not run, because it did not detect the VRM box. So, reinstalled my sound card (emu 0404) and sonar works. Today , focusrite said to uninstall the VRM Box completely and reinstall the drivers, and try it... Same results in Sonar, but now it doesn't even work in windows media player or anywhere.. but .. when booting up, I hear the windows logo theme... I am thinking Focusrite is clueless.. anyone here have an idea?

    I am clueless, man.
But maybe this thread might help you:

Maybe if you take a screenshot of the Audio Device Settings in SONAR I could get an idea of what's wrong there.

Also, when you reinstalled the drivers you made sure the device wasn't plugged in, didn't you?

With some ASIO USB or Firewire interfaces if there is a PCI ASIO audio interface installed then there can be a conflict. This is why focusrite told you to remove your PCI card. Do it again, Remove all drivers, and start over again with the focusrite drivers. It will work. Sonar will detect it, just make sure it is showing in control panel audio devices first. you were almost there the first time.

hey cactus... so are you saying I can't have both audio cards? Don't want that.. was just using VRM, or wanted to use it as a reference at times.
