Did ya ever...

wonder what happened to the Gibson Kalamazoo plant when it
closed in 1984?

I'm not a Gibson player now..I use to be for many years.
If I were to want a real Gibson.....well I think I'd get a _______.
Do ya know why?

If ya don't...I'll tell ya. First let's see if anybody really cares or
knows why.....

The next factory guitar on my wishlist is some sort of solid wood hollow body from that plant in Kalamazoo.

I check the ebay every day... but I haven't been in an impulsive mood lately.

Oh, and BTW it has to be "blonde".

    best regards,
    mike

It's too hard to find a good brunette guitar now-a-days.

Why? Because the guitars trade used at prices that seem affordable and they have several hollow bodies that are made out of solid wood.

If it had another brand name on it the pricing would be outside my comfort zone.

There was a beautiful Kalamazoo 335 copy on ebay a few days ago. It was "blonde" but it was laminated and I am holding out for a chunk of wood.

    best regards,
    mike

Didn't Heritage guitars take that plant?  Or was it just Gibson folks that started Heritage?

    Some people call me Maurice

SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc.  Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad.  2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1.  More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent.  Zendrum!!!

    Winner!

    Right on both accounts Space.

They purchased most all of the Gibson machinery and most of the folks there
    are old Gibson employees.
    Such as:
Floyd Newton- he was the original gold top painter for Gibson in the early 50's
Ted Beville- binding scraper and was for Gibson for over 40 years.
They finish all their guitars with nitro-cellulose just as the vintage finishes.

There is more Gibson in Heritage guitars than there is in Gibson...pure and simple.

James Deurloo, JP Moats....Deurloo was making necks for Gibson back in 1958
Moats was quality control for Gibson.
Seth  Lover and Walter Fuller have the PAF for developement and design for the Humbucker back in
    1955...
    they are both at Heritage.

    Personally if wanted a Gibson.....I wouldn't buy a Gibson.
