Exporting with FX
How do you export all tracks with FX sends, automation, etc etc? I selected all tracks, selected "Tracks" as sources, checked off all options such as "FX/Automation", etc. But I got all tracks dry. I need to export all tracks from my 70+ track mix session with FX for a remix a client wants to do. Am I misunderstanding how it works?

no i believe you understand this correctly. I just tested it I took two identical tracks place one with a wah effect imported the track i just exported and the one with the wah did indeed have a wah effect. they also phase canceled. exported each using Tracks option with all options ticked and the final output was as intended. i would try this again with a new project and just a couple tracks just to see what happens instead of exporting 70 tracks. to try and work out whats going on. it could be user error. if not I would call Cake's tech support.

I am curious, do I need to select all buses prior to export? I ask because since I've began using X1 I have to select all tracks in order to export a full mix. Prior to X1 this wasn't necessary.

busses, no. selecting all tracks and the entirety of the track length is good practice because if you just by chance have a section of a track selected. it will only export that section.

Tried again, no FX. Did it on a smaller project as well with 30 tracks in it. I only exported 1 track though. No dice. No reverb on it. I've done this before in S8, but I guess it works differently now or I am having a complete idiot moment.

you could go the route of exporting the tracks and then exporting the stems (busses). ohhh...... is the fx bin bypassed? right click on the track header it will tell you. are these soft synth audio tracks? they may be bypassed. check the freeze options... did you hit "E" key by accident?

Is everything routed through Master Bus? I think it's a good habit. I don't understand how that is possible. I think exporting is such a straightforward thing. You say you "checked off" all the etc. FX options. As a non-native english speraker, to me that sounds as you had deselected them (??? :o)
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Reverb is in a buss, routed to another FX buss, routed to Master. All tracks are eventually routed to master through their respective busses. Tracks are audio, and most have been frozen due to using UAD FX on a lot of them. I'm not sure if I hit "E". What does that do? And by "checked off" I mean "selected". So all checkboxes have a check in them.

The question is are you trying to export individual tracks, in other words, there will be 70 audio files, or is this just a mix down of the project? If these are individual tracks the efx will need to be in the track bin, not on busses. If it's a mixdown then use select all ( or select none) and go at it. Leave the default boxes checked.

Reverb is in a buss that it right there. any effect in busses are not going to be applied to a track export. they will be exported via stem/buss export.

the "E" key toggles the global ( ALL) fx's on and off. you can change this behaviour. I did as I hit it frequently by accident. let me find the link so I dont have to type it out. http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2558650 read the whole thread. its short.
