Great Offer from Soundiron...but...

Soundiron is offering a devious little come-on to it's large Olympus Choir libraries.  For $9.99 you get a sample of the library that contains many useful samples (56 different ones) to use in either the latest version of Kontakt 4 or Kontakt 5 (with 5 you get the tempo syncing presets as well).  Listen to the demos at soundcloud and you'll see what a deal this is.

BUT....

When I just tried to go to soundiron.com I got a blank screen with a generic dialog box asking for my email.  Looks like they might have gotten hacked.  So be careful.  But if and when their site is back to normal check out this deal.

Killer Diller.

I know what's going to happen. I'll get the micro choir, then I'll want the choir. Then I'll need an orchestra to go with the choir.

I wanted to grab this as soon as it was announced yesterday, but the site was overwhelmed so I decided to wait until today. Now the site is down completely. They were probably unprepared for the huge response - I mean, who'd have predicted that thousands of people would want to download a useful, great-sounding ten-dollar choir library?

When I get it, I'm getting 5 so at least I'll feel like it was a great $50 deal.

Whta really bothers me is that when I use the buy button from the email and then use the paypal option I'm taken to the PayPal login screen (so far so good).

Then I'm asked to verify that I am the holder of the (paypal) account by supplying my bank account number.

    I stop at that point.

    I check the URL. Yes, it's Https : // www.paypal.com <etc......>

That all seem legit but I've never been asked (by paypal) to input my account number after I've logged in.

Guys, Just a note on this, unless I'm missing something. The demos sound great, but the 9.99 set is quite limited and doesn't deliver what the demos present. It basically gives several "Dominum" styles, very good at what it does. The "Oom" is in there but haven't found a patch to load it yet. There are a couple effect patches. As long as you don't think you are getting a wide sample of male and female choirs, it may or may not be worth the 10 bucks. I only have Kontakt 4 so maybe Kontakt 5 users can get a few more miles. Yup it's just a little "sampler" to whet your appetite.  But for 10 bucks worth a shot.

Went back to KRV and relistened to the demos. A lot of the real control over inflections, where the sample starts and sustains are for Kontakt 5 users, which would cover a lot of ground for the price. I can't get close to the demos with ver 4.

    Maybe should upgrade Kontakt.

    (edit)...

Looks like a lot of fine tuning available even in Kontakt 4 thru the Olympus interface. Specifically, offset and attack. Can use these to take out the Dominum expression on the front end. This was driving me nuts. Can get some nice choirs. Didn't recognize this earlier, but I got an excuse. I'm a guitar player.

    Thanks for the link OlPal

    Hey Guys,

Wanted to pass on a setting to get a good female choir without the Domino artifacts.

    Venus Dominum Choir patch.

Attack to 88. Ofset to 82. Wet mix to -6.0.

    Very sweet around C5.

Anyone else playing with this sample from SoundIron? I was twiddling it last night, looking for a sweet spot. Any thoughts on your 10 dollar purchase?

For me it's just in the tool box right now. I've been mixing all day on something that does not require it.

I like choirs and I like cheap libraries, but I think I'll pass on this one. It sounds good, but doesn't offer anything different from the half-dozen other choirs in my collection. The full version would be pretty awesome, but it's out of my price range.
