Loading File Without Plug-ins

I have a project in Producer 8.5 that will crash Sonar when I attempt to load it. I can open it in Sonar's "Safe Mode" (shift-clicking) by not loading a bunch of the plug-ins that used to be used in the project. However, even after I re-save the file it still attempts to open those same plug-ins when I try to re-open the newly saved file. Is there a way to refresh the project so only the currently used plug-ins will be saved? Am I missing something? Thank you. Best, Pat M

that's odd.  have you saved it as a different name?

which plugins are causing the problem?

I have saved it with a different file name (I just added "2" to the end of the name. I don't know which plugin is specifically causing the problem, but in order to open the project, I just don't load any of the old stuff that I don't need for this project - Beatscape sfz DropZone Rapture64LE RXP SessionDrummer2 Dimension Pro Vienna Instruments x64 Kontakt 4 GroovePlayer I am only loading -SessionDrummer x64 Guitar Rig 4 Thanks!

Do you get the Quick Start screen that lets you open a new or existing file when the program runs? If so, you could open the program but not open a file, then disable any plugins you suspect in the plug-in manager. Then enable one plugin at a time until you find the one that is causing the problem. If it were me, I would also rescan for plugins before I disabled them and then starting using them again.

The is an easy workaround if it ends up coming down to this: rename your vst plugins folder or move the dll's, boot Sonar, load the project (NOT in safe mode!). Sonar will tell you the plugins cannot be found and it will create "placeholders". Delete the placeholders (the plugins used in the project) and then - to be safe - just rename it something different. Close Sonar. Replace the dll's or rename the plugins directory/directories. File should open fine now. Add one plugin, work save, continue till the culprit is found, if there is one. Might just be bad mojo.

thanks for the replies! I ended up exporting the project as an omf file and then copied over the midi parts separately. Then I just had to go and reload the plugins on the new project.
