Master Bus plugins

Hi im a noob trying to figure out what plugins work best for a good warm vintage sound thats loud and glued together properly as in classic rock type vibe, i have access to WAVES plugins and would like to know which ones to use, also....does it effect the sound which order they are arranged in? as in do i put eq on top then whatever else on bottom? im not sure the standard order people place these plugins to achieve the best sound, thanks in advance! its easy,
start by creating an insert in your wallet, take the send from your hand and adjust the frequency as needed.
with the waves its all about the frequency of hand to wallet.
    great plug ins though.

which waves plug ins do you have?

    Windows 8.1 X64 Sonar Platinum x64
    Custom built: Asrock z97 1150 - Intel I7 4790k - 16GB corsair DDR3 1600 - PNY SSD 220GB
Focusrite Saffire 18I8 - Mackie Control

Steven Slate FG-X is the absolute best brick wall out there. The compression is so smooth.

Each mix will require different plugins and in a different order. Sometimes the EQ will go after the compressor and sometimes it will go before the compressor. Sometimes you'll have one before it and one after it. Your limiter most always goes at then. That's the only constant. For the rest, you'll just have to decide if you want your Eq compressed or if you want to compress your EQ. Each song will need different things

None, when there's no money in the wallet, my wallet doesn't resonate at any frequency!
After I bought my Adams A7X's, that's all that resonates but the response is pretty flat

If you haven't already checked this out, Izotope Ozone 5 is a Mastering suite plugin worth checking out.. you can demo it and get a feel of how they set up some of their presets for mastering.  Nice VST

DarrenB..... why not just ask a hard question?

There are literally so many ways to do this....and making a mix loud and cohesive is something that takes time.

If you are starting out, I'd suggest Ozone as opposed to Waves (what does it mean you have access to waves? you either own it or you don't...maybe in a friend's studio?)

I don't know Waves but I do know Ozone. O3&4 which I have and O5 have some nice starting points called presets to get you going. Ultimately, you want to learn what the modules in O5 do, and Izotope has the PDF's on their web site (highly recommend you get these and study:  here>>> http://www.izotope.com/pr...one/support.asp ) to help you begin to understand the entire process called Mastering.

Mastering a song is like playing guitar. Most people can play a few chords in a day or two, but to become proficient takes years of hard work and practice. Same thing with Mastering..... using presets will get you going quickly but really getting the most from it will take hard work and practice.

There is literally so much to learn on this topic that you can study it and work on it for years and still have a long way to go. But you will improve if you work at it.  I prefer actually to call it small "m" mastering  or better yet..."polishing the tune"

BTW: don't worry about loud..... worry about getting it sounding good. Radio's have volume controls for loud.
