Sonar 8.5 Track view problem with left pane

In track view, I'm used to the leftmost pane (where the big volume slider is) switching to reflect whatever track I select. Suddenly I noticed that it is only representing track 1, no matter what track I work on. Probably a dumb question or due to a key I hit by mistake.

That's weird. Try pressing the i key on your keyboard to toggle it off and on.

Click the word "Master" (the label) at the bottom of the Track Inspector and uncheck the "Lock" option at the bottom of the popup.

Chapple: Nope... that didn't help, but thanks. Stoons: OK... "Track Inspector"... at least I have the right terminology now (DUH!). But I can't find the word "MASTER" anywhere at the bottom of it. There is a label called "Display" which prings up a "popoup" of all the things displayed in the pane, but there is no LOCK option there. There are also three Right facing triangle pointers which when clicked, brink up a whole hierarchy of popups, mostly having to do with things like sends and meters. But no "lock" anywhere. this sounds like the right track though. Did I mention its 8.5.3 "producer"?

Ah, sorry, I misread  - you say it sticks on Track 1 and I referredt to "Master", sorry. Under the fader in the track inspector, the name of the track should be displayed, be it "Track 1" or whatever. Click on the track name under the fader - there is a little black arrow to the right of the name. This is just above where the three little arrows are, halfway between the icon and the three little arrows. Do not right click - left click on single black arrow beside the track name and the popup will show all the tracks and busses - at the very bottom is the "Lock" option.

Its missing! Yes there is a track number label "Track 1", but no track "name" with little arrow. NOW... if I open up another project, an untouched template, then between the "O"utput selector and the Track number ("Track 1" or whatever) there is another little window with the actual track NAME, like "Drums" or whatever. But on the project I'm talking about, that track name window doesn't exist. I suppose this is a case of the project getting corrupt. I can't tell you how many times this has happened, where something just wasn't right, and I had no choice but to re-build my project by cutting/pasting tracks, plug-ins, and settings between projects. More often I get the "Volume level" bug, where I have a track recorded at somewhere near "0" dB, but it will only play back at around -30. Nothing I can do then but create a new track, move the audio clips and plugins to it, and then HIDE the "problem" track. But I digress... -(

Anyway never mind... I've decided that there are other little bugs going on in this project, and that it is based on a template that is probably corrupt. I still have it in case someone spots an obvious "DUH!" I've missed, but I've spent the afternoon building a new template from scratch, and porting the new project to it. No more issues right now.
