Pitch correction for audio OTHER THAN vocals?
Greetings, neighbors - I have a lead gtr clip that was a good take (a killer performance), but - unfortunately - both the G and B strings were slightly flat. Before I spend hours trying to recapture the feel with a perfectly-tuned axe, is there anything (like V-Vocal) that would let me adjust a few notes and save this keeper take? I have already tried to run it through V-Vocal just to see what would happen. The results were unprintable. I might be able to hear again by tomorrow... Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Melodyne Editor would probably do it, but it's not cheap. Dan

Melodyne Editor definitely can do it. It has to be Editor, it's the one that works on polyphonic material. I use it on instruments more than vox. Excellent timing alignment tool as well.

I have used V-Vocal to tweak a previously recorded bass line (fretless, they can be tricky buggers) to good effect. I don't see why it wouldn't work with lead guitar, unless you have polyphonic components on the track. You can't change a minor chord to a major or anything magic like that. But if you have a solo lead, it should work. Just isolate the section into a separate clip of a few seconds long, and apply V-Vocal to that clip alone.

I've used V-Vocal to massage a couple of out of tune guitar notes, the caveat being that the track must be mono and it won't work on anything but single guitar lines (forget chords!)

I can confirm Bristol Jonesey's advice. It's possible with V-Vocal but the track must be mono. I used it successfully on rare occasions for slightly off-pitch single notes in guitar solos. I would recommend working in small portions. Meaning, to cut the off-pitch notes into single clips and than turn them into V-Voval clips, apply pitchcorrection and bounce to clip again. regards Daniel

Thanks, everyone. I was opening the entire solo (about 22 sec. worth) into V-Vocal, and it included a couple of instances of polyphony. Working with much smaller bites - and single notes - I have been able to salvage it.

Very cool.... glad you got it.... I have used Melodyne editor to edit plenty of non-vocal tracks. It's great for the slight tuning issues you spoke of, as well as shortening and lengthening notes. In poly mode, you can easily change the structure of chords. I like to use it to delete some notes in chords to clean them up. Very handy tool.
