Lyrics View (how to make it work)

Don't know about everyone else but every song I write has lyrics (as I'm sure many do).
I would love to be able to use the lyrics view.  I'm unable to find a way to make paragraphs and/or changes in font color so that:
 
1.  Each small section of lyric does not run into the next.
2.  A visual break for eye strain and instrumental sections.
3. Clearly see backup and lead vocals. 
  
Does anybody else use the lyrics view? 
What could I do to solve my issues stated above?
 
Any help would be gladly appreciated.
