Cannot 'see' audio output from VST instrument (NI Fast EI2XT)
Greetings, everyone. I could be considered an oldtimer newbie, having dabbled in hobby music production for over 40 years but being new to Sonar products (more of a Reason user).
Not quite sure where to get help for the issue I'm facing, having gone through tutorials & manuals which are clear to understand but don't solve my problem:
Running X1 Studio on Windows 7 64bit. I have a project that includes a NI VST (Fast EI 2XT) as a soft synth. This VST features a loop player that is synced to the project tempo. I can hear the audio output of the VST when the project plays. I now wish to record this audio output as an audio track in real time, so to speak - but can't figure out how to acheive this. Note there is no MIDI output from the VST, nor is the VST controlled via a MIDI controller.
I've read about the boucing and freezing options, but since the track is 'empty' there is nothing to freeze and/or bounce.
I've tried adding an audio track, where said VST's audio output is selected as an input but there is no metering/ signal when playing back.
Surely this is not rocket science and I'm doing something basic wrong - so any input is much appreciated.
