It depends on the antibiotic. Some will be affected by bacterial cultures within milk and milk products like yogurt. Some will not (gram positive vs gram negative bacterial cell type in the infection being targeted).

You did inform the Dr of this diet....yes? It is especially important to replace the flora in the gut as quickly as possible after AB treatment. There are several hundred beneficial "good bugs" that we need to flourish. the good ones keep the bad ones in check and go a long way towards keeping us healthy. Many AB's will kill everything. No discrimination between the good and the bad...... it all goes. I subscribe to a post in FB which deals with this sort of thing. Most of the time these days Dr's will still prescribe AB's for anything and everything. It goes to patient beliefs that they are not getting their money's worth if a DR doesn't prescribe "something" for whatever the reason was they went to them in the first place. I've seen AB's prescribed ..."just in case" when the DR admitted he wasn't sure what the problem was. Huh????? What ever happened to "do no harm"? It's interesting to note that the majority of things we get AB's prescribed for will go away on their own, and our immune systems will be stronger for it too, if we simply let the majority of infections run their course.... there is evidence that many diseases we now have, have become stronger due to over use of AB in everything and for everything. Farm animals are treated with AB as a normal course of raising them. And ...... there are some scientists who believe that AB ..... which are based on fungus.... are a contributing factor to cancers..... in that, there are now studies into the causal relationship between fungus in the body and certain types of cancer growth. I avoid AB where possible. I just recently came through some sort of bug. I was running a low grade fever and this went on for a few weeks. I was tempted several times to see the Dr the next day, but held off and eventually, my body's immune system got the upper hand and resolved it on it's own. I do understand that there are times when AB's are absolutely necessary and in those cases I would have no trouble using them. Hope it works out OK for you.

Glad you feel better Guitarhacker. I probably wouldn't mix the two together. I have never seen a man explode and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone here. The only antibiotics that disagree with me are the sulfur based ones. I blow up like a ballon and get little red spots all over my body.Actually looked Chinese for awhile.
