Will Sonar be able to run on something like this any time in the near future?

http://createdigitalmusic...will-producers-use-it/ I am starting to think that tablets are going to be the future of computers and mobile recording is going to become even more popular. I am, by no means, an Apple fan. But, the ipad has a 48 track DAW and, I have to say, it looks pretty cool. That got me to thinking - will Sonar be doing anything like this?

This is pretty awesome, too, although extremely expensive. Will Sonar be able to run on this? http://www.zdnet.co.uk/ne...d-yoga-40094774/2/#top

I would think that the answer to your first question is no, not for the forseeable future, given a) Cakewalk have not given any indication that SONAR will be anything other than Windows-only, and b) Apple's iOS rules don't allow apps with plugins unless they are statically linked to the app. So you would have to re-purchase your favourite plugins, I'm guessing.

As to the second device - why not? Since it has the power of a fairly high-end notebook (Ivy Bridge, up to 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) and will run Windows 8, it should run SONAR just fine with a suitable audio interface.

SONAR will be able to run on Win8 tablets as long as they're x86 tablets and not ARM tablets. The ARM chipsets run a version of Win8 that doesn't support 'normal' x86 apps, which is what SONAR is. But ya, x86 tablets with a 'normal' CPU and chipset will run the full version of Win8 and can then run any x86 app, including SONAR. Should be interesting.

I still have trouble seeing Sonar on a 24" monitor due to some of the color assignments. I simply can't imagine it being any good on a 10" screen. Are there any other $400 apps at the app store?

    Thanks seth.

I'm holding out for windows 8 and a bigger touch screen.  When is Cake going to get roland to make a 24 inch touchscreen w/ a knob and motorized fader?  I know you want one - get cracking.

Seth, thank you for the answer. Just one question: why can't a "lighter" version of Sonar be developed for the ARM processors, kind of like Garage Band for the iPad? I'm not asking to criticize Cakewalk, just wondering.
