Step Sequencer and Dr880 Drum Machine

In the Step Sequencer I like to use different layers in the MIDI track. Also I make clips A and B and a Fill or so. I like to keep these clips ungrouped until I decide on the basic structure of the song. Session Drummer 2 will play all the clips, but my Boss Dr880 drum machine will only play the first clip then go silent. If I group everything into 1 clip, it will play the whole thing on the drum machine. Is there a way to make my drum machine play all the clips in the MIDI track? I could use Session Drummer 2 to write the song then send it through the drum machine or I could write everything in the Piano Roll. I would like to write with the Step Sequencer and my drum machine.

A Step Sequencer clip can be dragged out just like a groove clip. That should sort it out for you. That's assuming that the track it is on is assigned to your drum machine of course.

Yes, but if I use more than one groove clip, within the one MIDI track, it stops playing after the first clip. No matter how much I stretch them out. Once that first clip ends, My drum machine stops. One stretched out groove clip does not make a song.

I'm gonna try using a MIDI to USB cord, rather than the Printer USB cord and software.

That worked! I just had to figure out some settings in the drum machine to get it to receive a MIDI signal. Now I can rock all the clips I want to.

The windows software for the drum machine is 1.0.0. So, I don't think they have updated it at all.

I was going to suggest it worth checking your routing and setup but if the drum machine wasn't receiving MIDI correctly I can't work out how you could hear it at all. Very strange.

It was the difference between the USB port and the MIDI port on the drum machine. I had to switch the settings, because, only one can deal with MIDI at a time.
