Can't Drag and Drop SOME WAV Loops
I have recently purchased some sample libraries in WAV format. I can preview them all in the browser, however some of the loops I can not drag and drop into a project. I find that when I try to drag and drop some of the loops, as I move my mouse over an audio track in the project I do not see a LINE (vertical), when I try to drop them in. When I can see a VERTICAL LINE, I am able to drop the loops into the project. No VERTICAL LINE, no drop. I don't get any sort of error message. I am running X1d Producer version, 64 bit on Windows 7. Anyone else seeing this behavior? Thanks, all. Eric

I would check the properties of the clips you can drop in against the clips you can't and see if anything is different. I don't know how time-stamped clips would be affected by dragging and dropping but that would be another thing I would try to rule out.

Look for sample rates that differ from that of your project. If it's a collection, chances are the samples came from multiple sources and there may or may not have been any vetting of the material.

go into preferences, imported audio, select import audio broadcast at its own timestamp. the clips are there, but unfortunetly for you, those clips are at the very end of the timeline, for vericfication, drag the slider all the way to the end of the progect in the timeline.see if the clips are there. if they are, check what i told you in preferences.

Here too, something similar, but with a twist. I exported one MIDI track into a .wav file. I am able to play it with Wawosaur and Soundbooth without a hitch. However, when I import (or drag/drop) the same file back into a Sonar track, it's there but it won't play, or, at least, I cannot hear any output. I tried everything that I know of to no avail. Any idea? I am in Sonar 8.53/Windows 7 Pro/24 gig/i7 950.

Are you playing it as a MIDI or a Audio track? When you exported it did you change the clock rate?

I am playing it back as an audio track, with the MIDI track muted (or the audio track soloed, both methods should yield the same result). I exported the MIDI track into the .wav file. Didn't change anything. Well, at first I exported it at 96K, but I exported a second time at 44.1K. Otherwise, absolutely no changes, clock or anything else. I am just experimenting now. My purpose is to import the MIDI file back into its own audio track (empty until import) in order to manipulate Audio via V-Vocal. Of course, if this works, the MIDI track data will be either muted or deleted. And, since I have a large amount of MIDI tracks which taxes processing, in the end I'd like to supplent all of them with their Audio counterparts. Thanks, John.

You don't need to export to convert a MIDI track to audio, It's a little involved but very easy. Go to the help files and search topics "Converting MIDI to Audio" , Read the selection about Converting Soft Synth's to audio. This keeps stuff lined up too.

OK, it turns out that I was doing the right thing, but... The issue was that I played back these kinds of files before. I looked at the playback meter which was not moving at all. So the problem must have been in the audio chain and not with the exported file, I thought. Surely enough, the input field of the audio track was directed to the sound card's output. In the case that one has a source file in the Audio track, this input field must be configured to None. Now it works! Thanks for your input, Cactus. S.
