Beat the Clock

Ableton and Soundcloud are teaming up to do a promotion and they have a contest with a few prizes.

The contest is a bit weird, and the voting is preposterous - there's no way to view the submissions in a logical way.

Anyway, if anyone wants to hear the kind of crap sounds I make, have a listen:

http://contest.ableton.com/tracks/1025

This is actually the type of music I generally make, but I usually have more time to polish it - this is a rather rough mix due to the severe time constraints (you have to submit within 24 hours of downloading the material).

I made this using the source material in the Live project and put it through a Reaktor ensemble I made that does some serious granular mangling and deconstruction. I made about 11 stems of processed sound and then just mixed them in and out to get some sort of structure, but it is mostly improvised.

I think Soundcloud should have a way to sort all these things by genre at least, who has time to audition all the entries? There rae already about a thousand and several more days left for entries.

I'm not really very happy with the tools Soundcloud gives us to make our pages, but maybe I'm missing something. Does anyone else know how to organize their page visually?

Speaking of Brian, I have a Reaktor ensemble I made called 'BrianSez' that features the Oblique Strategies card set.  You click on Brian and out pops a card, just for you.

Here is what it looks like inside another Reaktor project I made:

if you mean by reordering the songs, you don't unless you have one of the pay accounts.  if you mean organizing the content on the page, you don't period.

I have one of those 1 year free Pro accounts, but as far as I can tell, you can't set the initial page view.
By that I mean, it defaults to Track view, not Set view. And there's no way to change the page order.

I couldn't figure out how to alter the order of tracks, either. But I guess I'm dense. Probably a little competition in the audio web might help.

I am dense - there's a little gear icon in the corner that let's you set the first page view.
