Vienna Symphonic Lilbrary Special Edition 1

Sonar user here still working in 8.5.3.

I am considering purchasing VSL SE and I want to see if any users here have words of commendation or caution regarding it's use as a VST in Sonar given the computer specs shown in my signature below. I plan on getting Vienna Instruments Pro to upgrade from the standard interface.

Any comments are appreciated.

Yep, I use Vienna Instruments Pro and it works great with Sonar. I got the VIPro after I started using X1, but the previous VI worked with 8.5 just fine. I'd expect the same with the VIPro. If your current setup is stable, shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, any further comments are welcome.

Glad to hear that things look fine with Sonar.

Oh, it occurs to me to ask for comment on one other matter: For those experienced with Sonar Producer and VSL SE, since I will have to hold off on adding the Vienna MIR Pro for budget reasons, do you find the reverbs that come standard with SPE 8.5 are sufficient to get a big enough sound out of the Vienna Library when needed? I'm kind of relying on that being the case, else I might have to rethink my decision.

Perfect Space will do the job. When I can't use MIR I use two instances of Perfect Space for the orchestra, one for a closer reverb, one for a further reverb sound. I use the "Real Spaces->Performance Hall->Performance Hall - XY Close.wav" for the close and "Real Spaces->Performance Hall->Performance Hall - XY Far.wav" for the further. Adjust to taste.

I don't like any of Sonar's bundled algorithmic 'verbs for orchestra stuff.
