Got to be careful with a site like this.

'All software comes complete with install & activation codes plus easy to follow printed instructions.'

    Easy to follow instructions. Mmm.

Google the site name. Consensus seems to be they are selling illegal copies. Buyer beware.

They are selling Sonar 7 Producer for 25 pounds. http://www.bytesales.com/...t=viewProd&productId=4 Total fraud. Say goodbye to your credit card number. It has probably been resold to a bunch of Syrians by now.

Maybe Beeps and relpo are being a bit alarmist in their predictions, but at the least I would be surprised if it turned out to be legit software for that price.
Anyway, I hope it all goes well for you - let us know if I'm wrong - then it will be a genuine bargain.

If someone, especially at Cakewalk, can let me know how as of today, you can buy a brand new in the box version of Sonar Producer 7, for 25 pounds sterling, complete with serial number and registration code, I'd love to hear it. Also, if someone at NI can provide the same confirmation of legitimacy for Guitar Rig Pro 5 - well I am all ears on that one too.

This might work... it might be the best thing since sliced bread. BUT what if the registration works fine the first time it is installed and NEVER AGAIN. Get a new code from N.I.? Repurchase? Keep repurchasing for every update? I could do all the home recording in the world with Music Creator IF my goal was to do this on the cheap. However, I am pursuing this in a manner as to build up a business... or as a professional pursuit, if you will. I don't want MY material "stolen" and sold with printable instructions. As a professional courtesy, I'll leave the questionable materials alone, after all, I might need some tech support with my purchase somewhere down the road.

It's unlikely to be brand new in a box. Leastways not a Cakewalk box. If the experiences of others (as reported in various forums, like this one) are to be believed, it will be a DVD-R copy.
Anyhow, damon777 will let us know either way when his GR5 arrives.

Well it arrived today, not in a box but on a very professionally finished disc, loaded on both my desktop and laptop, went through the service centre and got all updates and works just fine.
Im more than happy with it, it was bought through credible channels so whether it is or isnt legit i couldnt wholly say, i just saw what appeared to be a bargain and so far thats what its turned out to be and unless someone officially proves without doubt that its not a legit company then im more than happy to do business with them again...cant wait to see the replies im gonna get to this!!

    Again, use common sense.
Guitar Rig Pro 5 (full/legit) is $200 directly from Native Instruments.
Even when discounted, there's no way you're going to get a legit copy for £15.

Common sense is far from common.

His credit card may now be used for fraud. The disk may have a worm/virus tucked in there causing breaches and performance issues.

But it is his risk to take. For most, it'd be like going downtown and having a hooker/crack addict orgy with no protection... just won't end well.

    Re:Guitar Rig Pro 5 2012/05/23 22:17:02 (permalink)
This is VERY obviously a site that sells ONLY Pirated copies of software.

The fact that they have a Paypal (owned by Ebay) account, are on Ebay, and have Google Checkout says NOTHING for credibility at all.

Many software pirates operate using these services knowing that it lends some credibility in the eyes of some, but sorry ... I can only say this.

There's a MUG born every minute.

Before the end of last year, I would have thought that a long standing Ebay seller must be credible, since standing the "Test of time" with a large responsible vendor who surely must be very strict about not allowing sales of counterfeit goods on their auction site.  Well, Boy was I Wrong - Ebay simply do NOT seem to care at all.

I purchased a relative "Software Bargain" from Ebay at the end of last year.

The first thing I did after receiving my serial numbers and registration codes, and successfully installing the software (which you had to download from the genuine manufacturers website), was to log a support ticket with the manufacturer.

I gave them full details of the purchase, serial numbers, and registration codes (which worked fine), and asked them to validate that the serial and codes were legitimate, and therefore qualified for support, updates, and future upgrade pricing.

The answer ... a resounding NO, Your codes are Pirated, request a refund immediately.

I would challenge Mr. daman777 to log a support ticket and supply all those same details to NI, and see what answer he gets. I'm already 100% sure I know what that answer is.

Here's the interesting stuff about my Ebay purchase experience ...

You have to go through a protracted process of requests to the Ebay vendor who sold you the product, before you can get Ebay customer support engaged to assist in dealing with the issue.

In my case, the vendor is obviously well practiced at getting by most issues, and even Ebay themselves, by saying they accept refunds, and then turning them down while saying that it's everyone elses fault.

So I requested a refund, then the Ebay vendor said that the manufacturer were a bunch of lying blahs (expletives skipped), and refused to refund, closing the dispute.

I had to get Ebay support in the US on the phone (from NZ), present them all the details, which they then began to say, "This vendor has broken a bunch of other rules, they're not allowed to operate like this etc..." and INSTANTLY issued me my refunds.

The manufacturer was also given ALL the details and made their own (multiple) follow ups with Ebay.

To this day, I still see the SAME Pirate selling the SAME Pirated software packages every day on Ebay.
I've reported their listings SEVERAL times, and NOTHING has been done - Ebay is their "Safe Haven".

And by all accounts, it seems that Ebay is very happy for this software piracy to continue under their banner - they don't mind giving your money back if you can prove the item is counterfeit, and are willing to jump through a bunch of hoops to get there.  But they do NOTHING about the offending sellers and continue to support them in their Software Piracy businesses.

I'll never trust Ebay again !.

This should be reported to NI, and some of the big guys like Adobe, who might have enough clout from their legal department to cause Ebay and Google to review things somewhat.

Sorry damon777, I'd have to say in this instance, I think you're a total mug.

Meh. Ebay doesn't give a crap. The only time they give a crap is when their lawyers tell them to give a crap. Otherwise they just rake in the cash and tell everyone to stuff it. It's a great site to score some deals but definitely a buyer beware (and seller beware) market.

And I guess to elaborate a bit, I wouldn't spend money there that I wasn't prepared to lose or at least have tied up for a couple of months (paypal resolutions take a couple of months until completion). Software? Nah... wouldn't buy it unless I could verify with the manufacturer the seller was authorized. And there ARE authorized software distributors on ebay you can get deals from. For example I was looking at Addictive Drums when it was $250 from XLN and there was a distributor on Ebay selling for $150. Perusing the XLN forums it seemed the Ebay distributor was legit but I would have double checked with XLN before plonking down my dough. So really... ebay is great but you have to be smart about it. I LOVE my guitar. I LOVE my amp head. I LOVE my mixer. I pretty much love everything I've bought from ebay. But I researched the f&^% out of it all and sussed out the sellers first. It's not like Amazon or Newegg where there are guarantees and stuff. It's more like a flea market and you take your risks. Food for thought.
