Best $40 investment I've ever made!

I took advantage of the sale and upgraded Rapture and bought the Film Score patches and very pleasantly surprised!
I just caught myself saying out loud "oh hell yeah!" several times so felt the need to suggest this for anyone that scores for film/video (sale ends tomorrow).

Is that included in the Suite? There is so much stuff crammed into the Suite I'm still trying to sort out exactly what I bought. For example... I had no idea what Dimenson Pro was. Now I'm all like... whoa.

DP is another good toolbox but X1 comes with Rapture LE which is cool in itself but I just went ahead and upgraded to the full version because it was only $20 (and it'll make my upgrade to Rapture 2 cheaper)
The film score patches are an  extra $20 package that works with Rapture and/or Rapture LE.
If you have any interest in writing video/film/video game music I would highly recommend at least the film score patches.
    your pal,
    Randy

Good to know, Randy. I will definitely check it out. I'm quite a ways off from really getting into the meat of things but I certainly like having as many options available to me as possible... especially if they are cost effective which it sounds like this upgrade would be. I'll have to take a look whether the Production Suite has Rapture LE or the full version. I do recall something about Hollywood something or other being installed but I think that was within Dimension Pro. Thanks for the heads up. Peace.

Beepster..I'm pretty sure the expansion pack will work on full version or le.  The engine is identical on both products.  It's how much control you have that is crippled.

@dubdisciple... Oh I have no doubts about whether it'll work. Just wondering if I already have the extra sounds Randy is talking about or whether I need to upgrade. Come to think of it I'm not sure I even have Rapture at all but I'm pretty sure I do. Those extra content discs had a TON of stuff on them I'm aching to peruse after I finish the tutorials. One thing I'm actually really curious about is the Garritan Pocket Orchestra that seems to be packaged with Dimension Pro. I'm not sure if I got that with the Suite. Bah! I can't wait until I have time to fire up the rig again to check all this crap out. That's why I'm here all the time just absorbing knowledge like a little sponge. Once I can get back to booting up on the big system daily I'll probably just disappear for a week or so. Gotta get fitted for a new wheelchair and this place was a disaster area so that takes precedence for now. Two more days. Peace.

I've never found much use for Rapture. Supersaws and arps stopped turning my crank around 1976.

But I gotta imagine that any instrument that's even occasionally useful is probably worth twenty bucks. So help me out here...in the absence of any demos, is this expansion going to do anything for me, a classic rock guy who uses VA synths purely for ****e, not for the meat 'n potatoes?

(I'm talking specifically about the Film Score expansion pack.)

[EDIT: the software thinks I've said a bad word. Maybe I should have used "salt 'n pepper" or "cardamon" instead of "****e". Still, it's oddly comforting to be reassured that software will never achieve the IQ of an earthworm.]

Well I just downloaded it (the Filmscore Pack) and spent about the last hour or so going through the sounds. There's some absolutely amazing stuff in there, however I closed down Sonar thinking to myself that I dont know if i'll ever find a use for most of it!!!! On a positive however, this download could be just the catalyst I need for my film score writing career........ha ha!  Sorry Bit I'm with you and i've already bought it - great, but not very usable for a meat and potatoes man IMO.

There's a little audio demo on the Cake Store page. Seems like it's presets and sounds that one would use to create dynamics and stuff quickly in a film track or TV show. I'd imagine most of it could be recreated just with other plugins/VSTs but it would take time and effort. These would be something you could just say "Okay, here comes our hero" and then just toss a sound in or "We just cut to a foreign land" and there's wacky foreign sounding presets and noises to use. Cool for sure and probably worth twenty bucks no matter what you're doing. Doesn't seem like a must have for old school rockin' though.

You're right, it's a cool download for the money, and there are a few nice useful pads in there. Otherwise, I now know why it's called the Filmscore Pack!

Ya gotta figure for the price of a case of beer now you got some extra goodies to mess around with. Some of the sounds on the demo are reminiscent of the old DX-7 style film scoring, just souped up a bit.

I'd agree with both of you in that it won't be meat and potatoes but just scrolling through I heard a lot of off the shelf sounds that would work for cues.
Also some of the sequences could be ideas for a segment for a real song.
Last but not least, one of the cellos and double bass alone were worth the $20 to me.
While one can't control the articulation of them I think they may blend very well with GPO.
That said, it may very well turn out to be one of those tools/toys I use once or twice and then forget about ...but I reckon that's okay considering I paid 20 bucks for it.
Plus if it helps provide resources for CW at all that's another win.

This was a fantastic sale. I added the PC4k S-Type Channel Compressor, Expander/Gate, E-MU Proteus Pack 2000 and Rapture Film Score to my arsenal. Proteus and Rapture Film Score are a perfect match for each other.

Thanks for the GREAT sale Cake!!

I like Galbanum ones and fi-sound one x220 or whatever it's called. so maybe look at it not just solely on the film expansion pack ,
