Midi Volume Automation question

Hi all.  I just noticed I cannot edit a volume automation I did on a midi track, like I can an audio track.  Once I write a volume there doesn't seem to be a way to grab the node and work with it.  Am I missing something here?  ; )

    strange..
the envelopes work exactly the same on audio and midi tracks..

    maybe the envelope isn't selected?..

try shift+left click on the envelope an see if you can edit it after this.

Try using CC11 for editing Midi volume - it works for me every time.

Try using CC11 for editing Midi volume - it works for me every time.

Don't forget though that CC11 represents expression, not volume. Volume (CC7) represents how loud a sound will be overall, whereas expression is a fraction of that loudness.

Think of playing a synth for example. You'd set the volume of a patch to the desired level (volume), and the softness or loudness (expression) is determined by how hard or soft you play the keys. Hitting the keys very hard to give maximum expression reproduces the sound at the desired volume. Turn the volume up or down, and playing at maximum expression will reproduce the sound at that volume. Playing progressively more softly will reproduce the sound accordingly more softly.

How hard one hits the keys is velocity. Expression is normally done with an expression pedal.

Different synths may or may not respond to either. Velocity is often used for patch layering. Expression is used normally for momentary changes in volume.

If I want to turn the Envelope back off to it's original "can't select" state, how do I do that?  Apparently I need a list of shortcuts.  ; )

    yeah ;)
check out some videos on the subject. learninig is alway nice :)

meanwhile just shift+left click on the clip (anywhere, just not on the envelope) to go back to "no being able to edit envelope"-mode ;)
