String Section soft synth and real time modulation

I just discovered the String Section soft synth in X1. But I was wondering if there is a way to link maybe the modulation wheel of my controller (Korg MicroKEY) to the volume or attack or release or a vibrato etc, so I can control it in real time for a more natural feel? If my keyboard had aftertouch, I imagine this would be perfect, but it doesn't, so wondering if the mod wheel could be a nice workaround.

I also have the Korg NanoControl which maybe I could set some of the faders up to the attack and release on the String Section synth. Control keys with one hand and articulation with the other.

What workaround do you guys use for this kind of thing? Appreciate any other options or ideas.

you should get your suspension sorted ;-)

you could always use midi learn.. but since you don't state what synth your using.. well thats the issue.. we aren't mind readers..

you need to find out what CC the synth is using perhaps

Yeah I did, the String Section synth included in X1! I thought it was called String Section, but turns out it's Studio Instruments Strings:

    That fella!

    CC???

Yeah I might have a play with MIDI learn and see how that goes. Cheers

press f1 with the interface up , see what things are assigned and IF you can re-assign them, which sometimes you can't.

Hey fog I just tried this with focus on Aria, Play VST and Rapture but get nothing (after a half second of hour glass icon).
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks very much,
    Randy

F1 would typically be the help menu... Maybe it's searching for a help menu on that particular synth, hence the hour glass, but then doesn't find anything? Do you mean F10 or F11 or something??

The F1 for Help key shortcut is specific to SONAR plug-ins. It won't necessarily work with 3rd-party plug-ins unless they have been programmed to provide that function.
