All soft synths playing at once
I know it's always something simple but after staring at my screen for 10 minutes and searching through the user guide I thought I'd go ahead and post. So I have 3 synths (Rapture, GPO and SI bass) set to omni with input echo set to on for all. No matter which track I select/highlight Rapture and SI bass will play. Can someone tell me why the individual track/VST doesn't play as usual? Thanks, Randy

What is triggering the synths? A MIDI track? A keyboard? What are the individual inputs for each synth set to? Oh... you said they were all set to Omni. If you are playing a keyboard and getting sound from all synths, Omni is why.

garrigus Hi Randy, It's probably because you manually turned on input echo for the tracks. Normally, input echo is set to Auto and automatically turns on only for the highlighted track. Check out this video for some info about working with soft synths and layering tracks via input echo... http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/video.asp?ID=9 Scott -- Scott R. Anyway, I reckon you're right because they are switched from auto to on...any way to select auto again (they just toggle on and off now)? Thanks again Scott, Randy EDIT: BTW, the link took me to a Dream Station tut

Right as usual Scott...you know you should really think about writing a book on this or something!

To get that to work properly... you should set the midi track for one synth to a specific midi channel for output and set the corresponding synth input to that same channel number. Be sure each track and each synth have matching outputs and input numbers that are different from the other synths in the project. It's OK to have the midi track input set to OMNI so that recording is easy. Only arm the one track at a time to record live data. This way, each synth can only see the data from the track it's supposed to see. Upon playback, they all play what they are supposed to with no interference.
